Inaugural pilot — complete
Four veterans spoke. Teachers, local councillors, retirees and other veterans sat in. Questions ran for about forty minutes.
Sponsored by a Civic Future Action Grant. Film free to share: youtu.be/NwNSxN7Z-14
First school assembly
Same speakers as the pilot. Exact start time to be confirmed with the school.
Further school hours
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in October and November are open for schools, libraries and groups across Oxfordshire.
A school hour is one lesson long:
No parade and no politics lesson. People who have served, a story each, and then the room gets to ask.
Yarning: the winter series
Alongside the school hours, the winter Story Hour and Yarning series brings veterans' stories to pub evenings: two or three veterans, a yarn each, then questions from the room. Rory hosts every evening himself, and any welcoming pub or space works. Summer sessions will follow in beer gardens and other spaces. Dates will be listed here as they are confirmed; see Yarning for how an evening works.
What comes next
After the first school hours, further sessions in libraries and youth centres across Oxfordshire, and then further afield.
